Pressing the search button or selecting search from the menu allows you to do a Google Local (i.e., Google Maps) search. Google Local search is very fast, so it's the best way to find the area of the map or a particular place. For example, you can search for "Boston, MA" to be taken to Boston immediately.
Once you've found the place you want or the general area you want to search in, you can do a location search by tapping the result name or long pressing on the spot you want to search. A location search searches Gowalla, Foursquare for places that you can check in. Gowalla and Foursquare especially are very slow when compared to a Google Local search, which is why Check-In Droid offers two ways to search: Google Local to help you quickly find the general area, then location search to find the place you want to check-in.
Check-In Droid allows you to check in to Gowalla, Facebook Places, and Foursquare. When a location has the same name in all services, Check-In Droid will automatically create a merged location that allows you to check into both services at the same time.
However, many locations may have a slightly different name in Gowalla or Foursquare or may differ
in some other way that prevents Check-In Droid from automatically merging them. If you know that
two different locations are the same, you can combine them. When adding a check-in, simply tap
the add button
You will be taken to the map
where you can select a second location. The location you are merging will have a white marker
